Universal Voice Institute three-year voice training

We work with the following theme: “kind eyes and good mistakes”. Why? We repeatedly give everyone who comes to study with us a push in the right direction. You learn to see yourself with kind eyes, because you’re on your way to a better situation and every step you take is a beautiful step forward. Of course, you make mistakes along the way. You need to learn to recognize and improve them, and then it becomes a good mistake. You learn from these moments and they make you stronger, more aware, and help you move forward concretely.

Year 1
The theme “kind eyes and good mistakes” is essential. Only this way can you create a safe atmosphere in a training where you can only develop and improve.

In the first year, you learn more and more about your voice and your possibilities through good mistakes. These are nicely trained and stimulated without becoming too technical. You and your development are central. In simple terms, we teach you to better understand your instrument. You see your development and you enjoy this journey, with kind eyes.

Year 2
The second year is intended to challenge you even more and develop all the possibilities of your voice, including those possibilities you haven’t seen until now. It also becomes more technical and clearer so you can work more independently and recognize what you need to do for which style or challenge.

This becoming independent and autonomous from us, the teachers, is an important vision in our education. We are able to give you really concrete knowledge about how the voice works, and your voice in particular. This way you know better and better what you need to do in which situation. This way you develop knowledge about the sound you want to make and the anatomy that needs to do that and with which exercises you learn to control the ideal sound. You begin to understand what vocal habits and pitfalls are, and in contrast, how to reach your vocal goal. You learn to achieve this with concrete tools. In 2 years’ time you really become the master of your voice. You become your own teacher, so that you, independent of us, have control over your voice for the rest of your life.

Year 3
Year 3 becomes the year in which you choose which direction you want to develop. That can be as a Vocal Performer or as a Master Teacher. Two very different years but both focused on what you need.

Master Teacher
The Teacher year is focused on learning to hear and analyze everything about the sound of singers. We don’t listen with taste. That means you listen to what sound there is, and not yet what you think of it. So you learn to listen like a computer, without judgment. Then you analyze what that means for the anatomy. Which part of our voice ensures that this sound sounds like this? Do we want something different? Then we set a new vocal goal.

This new goal comes with a new vocal plan and in it we think together about which exercises we need to make this happen.
The Universal Voice System is so complete that you learn to find solutions for pupils and students through the methodology. This way everyone learns to sing better and healthier, getting the maximum out of your voice! All styles, all types of music are covered and teach you how you as a teacher and coach can deal with this.

Performer
The performer year develops your vocal technique down to the finest detail for the style you want to sing in and offers you the top teachers from the entire field. You get workshops on song interpretation, guidance from top musicians, audition training, working with a videographer and much more. These challenge you and hold up a mirror to bring out the best in you as a performer. An intensive year with many changing perspectives that make you grow, make you curious and offer you help to determine your own career and achieve your goals.

In exceptional cases, we sometimes allow people to start in the second year. The requirement for this is that you sing excellently, have very good technique, and sufficient knowledge of Universal Voice to keep up with the rest of the group.
