Roel Vankerckhoven

Roel obtained his BA and MA in Music Theater performance/teaching at Fontys Conservatory. He also completed the Language-Literature and Theater Studies program at the University of Antwerp (equivalent to a Master’s degree).
In addition to years of practice as a private teacher in Amsterdam, Roel is also affiliated with the HBO programs at the Amsterdam University of the Arts (UC/JMD and ECD programs) and at Lucia Marthas Institute of Performing Arts (singing and voice lessons within the Musical program). Within these programs, he often serves as musical director and/or vocal coach for final performances.

The professional field also appreciates his qualities as a vocal coach, including theater and musical productions such as Fiddler on the Roof (De Theateralliantie), Know me (TG De Bonte Hond), the Hazes musical Hij gelooft in mij (Stage Entertainment), The Underground (Club Guy Roni), Fortune (Club Guy Roni), De tweeling (Stage Entertainment/De theateralliantie), Hello Dolly (MediaLane), … At the event Sint in de Piste (Sint-Niklaas, Belgium), he is responsible for voice coaching and vocal arrangements.

Roel’s expertise lies not only in his professional training, but also in his extensive personal practical experience. As a singer/actor in productions including Kruimeltje, Joe, Anatevka, Mamma Mia, and as a voice actor in numerous visual and audio productions.

Since March 2023, Roel has been chairman of the Dutch Association for Singing Teachers (NVZ) and since June 2023, Roel may call himself a Certified Master Teacher in the “Universal Voice System”.
